  • Overview

With hatchbacks becoming an increasingly competitive segment, Honda felt it necessary to give fans of the Civic Hatchback something big to root for with the 2025 model year, which is why it has introduced some remarkable new features for fans of the generation-defining compact. The 2025 Honda Civic Hatchback gives its five-door competitors in the segment something to be envious of, as it introduces a two-motor hybrid variant for the very first time in the American market. This easily separates the Civic Hatchback from its nearest segment competitors, such as the Mazda3 Hatchback and the Toyota Corolla Hatchback.

The 2025 Civic Hatchback delivers the most powerful iteration of the Civic yet, aside from the Type R. Thanks to the hybrid option, you now have multiple powertrain configurations with excellent fuel economy, making the Civic Hatchback both a worthwhile option for performance-focused drivers and a low-maintenance, long-range commuter vehicle for daily drivers. The new model year for the eleventh generation also sports an all-new front fascia and an improved grille design, along with altered rear tail lights and exciting new colors for the exterior.

There are a total of eight colors to choose from for the 2025 Civic Hatchback, starting with the standard Crystal Black Pearl, Meteorite Gray Metallic, Rallye Red, and Solar Silver Metallic; you also have the four premium colors in the form of Boost Blue Pearl, Platinum White Pearl, Sand Dune Pearl, and Urban Gray Pearl. The Honda Civic Hatchback is available in three trims for the model year, with the only non-hybrid trim being the entry-level Sport trim, while the other two trims are the Sport Hybrid and Sport Touring Hybrid.

    Two Powertrain Options

The performance of the 2025 Civic Hatchback for the non-Type R models is marked by two distinct powertrain options. The base option is a naturally aspirated 2.0L inline four-cylinder that makes 150 hp and 133 lb-ft of torque. It is paired with a continuously variable transmission but has paddle shifters for those who want to control gear shifts for optimal power delivery. Alternatively, there is the 2.0L inline four-cylinder hybrid with electric motors and a battery pack, which produces 200 hp and 232 lb-ft of torque. Instead of paddle shifters, the hybrid comes with deceleration selectors that control regenerative braking.

The Sport and Sport Hybrid feature three distinct drive modes in the form of Econ, Normal, and Sport, while the Sport Touring Hybrid comes with four different drive modes, including Econ, Normal, Sport, and Individual, the last of which can be customized to fit your individual driving style and settings. These different modes can help you maximize the 2025 Civic Hatchback's fuel economy and range. The front-wheel drive hatchback gets an EPA-estimated 30 MPG in the city and 38 MPG on the highway with the standard four-cylinder engine and an estimated 50 MPG in the city and 45 MPG on the highway with the hybrid powertrain.[b]

The Civic Hatchback comes standard with other performance-enhancing features, including the Eco Assist System, Hill Start Assist, and an electric parking brake with automatic brake hold. All three trims come with 18-inch aluminum alloy wheels. However, the Sport and Sport Hybrid feature gloss black wheels, while the Sport Touring Hybrid comes with matte shark gray inserts to give the Civic Hatchback its own unique look. Each of the three trims can also be configured with different wheel designs if you want to further personalize the trim to your liking.

    Exciting and Convenient

Part of the appeal of the 2025 Honda Civic Hatchback is that it's not only very sporty to drive but very visually inspired as well. From the exterior to the interior, you have an exciting lineup of features and content that make it highly enticing for sedan shoppers. The hatchback design affords ample cargo capacity for the compact Civic, with up to 24.5 cu.ft. of cargo capacity behind the second row of seats.

The Smart Entry features also make it easy to enter and exit the Civic Hatchback with almost no friction, whether you're getting your kids into or out of the vehicle or storing or retrieving your personal belongings from the rear cargo area. All of the trims come with full LED headlights and taillights with auto-on and auto-off functionality, as well as heated power side mirrors. The Sport Touring Hybrid features integrated LED turn signals on its side mirrors, giving you an extra bit of convenience with its design.

The lighting matches the new exterior, which includes a bolder front fascia, with a more pronounced lower grille and a sharper centerpiece featuring the Honda logo. The headlights are also sharper, while the lower inlets on the sides of the front fascia have a smaller profile just above the front splitter. These changes have resulted in the 2025 Civic Hatchback giving off a more refined look to match its sporty presence. This is all accented by features like the one-touch moonroof, which is standard on the hybrid trims and is a nice touch for those who want a bit more luxury out of their hatchback.

    Convenient Features

The 2025 Civic Hatchback seats up to five people across its two rows, with either cloth or leather seating, depending on the trim. An available eight-way power driver seat and four-way power front passenger seat help add to the cabin's comfort, along with the available heated seats. There are also available sport pedals and a leather-wrapped steering wheel. Dual-zone automatic climate control comes standard on the hybrid trims, while features like speed-sensitive volume control come standard across the entire lineup.

Multiple storage compartments are featured throughout the cabin, including cup holders, side pockets, and available armrest storage. A seven-inch digital information interface is standard, along with a seven-inch color touchscreen, but the Civic Hatchback Sport Touring Hybrid comes with a 10.2-inch digital driver display with customizable profiles and a larger nine-inch HD touchscreen for media app access and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto wireless phone projection. This works in conjunction with Bluetooth wireless streaming, so you can listen to your favorite playlists while on the go or stay connected via the Wi-Fi hotspot connectivity option.

The availability of Alexa and Google Built-In functionality also makes it easy to use AI personal assistants for route planning, navigation, and other personalized tasks. These work in conjunction with the standard inclusion of the HondaLink system that is featured across the entire trim line, along with SMS text messaging and hands-free phone calls thanks to the Bluetooth HandsFreeLink functionality. You can also keep your devices charged using the available wireless phone charger or the dual USB-C ports.

    Honda Sensing

As is standard on all of Honda's vehicles, the 2025 Civic Hatchback also comes with the Honda Sensing Suite, with built-in active safety features. This includes a Collision Mitigation Braking System with automatic emergency braking, as well as a Road Departure Mitigation System, a Lane Keeping Assist System, and both Lane Departure Warning and Forward Collision Warning. All of the trims come with Traffic Jam Assist, as well as a Traffic Sign Recognition System. Standard features like auto high-beam headlights help illuminate the road depending on the weather and lighting conditions, while a Blind Spot Information System and Rear Cross Traffic Monitor are perfect for navigating busy roads. A multi-angle rearview camera with dynamic guidelines is also a standard feature across the trims, while available features like the front and rear parking sensors and Low-Speed Braking Control can add a lot to the safety of the vehicle, making the Civic Hatchback a very valuable proposition for sedan shoppers.
