If you are looking for the design and functionality of an SUV but you want something that will not take over your entire life, then a compact crossover could be the perfect option; all you have to do is choose the right one. The 2023 Honda CR-V is one of the most impressive compact crossovers on the road, giving you fantastic performance and fuel economy while also being packed full of features and technology inside and out. One of our favorite things about this model is that it offers plenty of options for you to get what you want without going overboard so that your selection is still kept streamlined and simple.

For starters, there are four trims available with two engines across them––this means you can pick an engine, then decide on the features you want to help you narrow down your choices. The standard engine is a 1.5L turbocharged I-4 that delivers 190 hp and 179 lb-ft of torque, which comes paired with a Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) and offers a combined EPA-estimated fuel economy of 30 MPG.[b] There is also an available 2.0L I-4 hybrid engine that boosts up performance to 204 hp and 247 lb-ft of torque, with an E-CVT for a smooth drive. With the hybrid engine, the CR-V gets an EPA-estimated 40 MPG of combined fuel economy.[b] All-wheel drive is available for both engines, which cuts down on efficiency slightly while giving you greater control.

Inside the 2023 Honda CR-V, you will find a roomy interior with plenty of space for your passengers and everything you need to bring with you. This is a two-row crossover with seating for up to five people, plus you get 39.3 cu.ft. of cargo volume in the rear area behind the second row. Interior features include a standard seven-inch infotainment display, with a nine-inch screen available, plus available leather-trimmed seating and a Bose Premium sound system. Every CR-V model comes with Honda Sensing features, including a Collision Mitigation Braking System, Adaptive Cruise Control with Low-Speed Follow, and much more to help protect you on the road.

  • Performance

Gas or Hybrid, the Choice Is Yours

One of the most important things to consider when looking at a vehicle is the kind of power it has under the hood. While you do not need to find a massive beast in a compact crossover, like you would want in a sports car or full-size truck, it should still have performance that makes it fun to drive. The 2023 Honda CR-V has two different engines for you to choose from, giving you the freedom to get what you want without burying you under an excessive number of options that quickly become overwhelming.

The standard engine for the 2023 CR-V is a 1.5L turbocharged I-4 that delivers 190 hp and 179 lb-ft of torque, giving you plenty of power to make driving it a lot of fun. Honda is well known for delivering a fantastic driving experience in everything they make, so this is no surprise, and it is paired with a very responsive CVT for a smooth and enjoyable drive. front-wheel drive (FWD) is standard on the CR-V, with all-wheel drive (AWD) available, and this engine can handle up to 1,500 lbs of towing. With its standard engine and FWD, the CR-V gets an EPA-estimated 28 MPG in the city, 34 MPG on the highway, and 30 MPG of combined fuel economy.[b]

If you are looking for something with more power and efficiency, then there is an available 2.0L I-4 hybrid engine that boosts performance up to 204 hp and 247 lb-ft of torque thanks to its high-torque traction motor. The Honda CR-V Hybrid comes paired with an E-CVT with B-Range Shift and Deceleration Selectors, giving you an even smoother driving experience and making it incredibly fun on the road. You can also get either FWD or AWD with the hybrid engine, though it tops out at 1,000 lbs of towing capacity. The efficiency of this engine cannot be denied as it gets an EPA-estimated 43 MPG in the city, 36 MPG on the highway, and 40 MPG of combined fuel economy with FWD.[b]

Find the CR-V That Matches Your Preferences

Despite its very reasonable starting price, the 2023 Honda CR-V has a lot to offer inside, both in terms of space and the kinds of features you can get. This is a compact crossover with two rows of seating for up to five people, giving you 38.2 inches of headroom in the front and rear, along with about 41 inches of available legroom in the front and rear seats. You get 39.3 cu.ft. of cargo volume in the rear behind the back seats, with 76.5 cu.ft. of total cargo volume available behind the front seats. With 103.5 cu.ft. of total passenger volume, the CR-V is a surprisingly spacious option for friends and family to come with you.

Honda offers two engines for the CR-V, with two different trims available for each, so no matter what kind of performance you want, you can pick the interior comfort and technology that is right for you. The standard features inside the CR-V include a ten-way power-adjustable driver’s seat with two-way lumbar support, along with heated front seats and cruise control. You can get additional ambient lighting inside for the door pulls and footwells, a heated, leather-wrapped steering wheel, and an automatic-dimming rearview mirror. Feel Safer Behind the Wheel With Honda Sensing Technology

When considering a vehicle, absolutely nothing is more important than how well it can help protect you on the road. You certainly want a crossover that is fun to drive and comfortable, but getting home safely is the most vital thing. That's why, like all new Honda vehicles, the 2023 CR-V comes standard with Honda Sensing.

No matter which options you choose, you get a Collision Mitigation Braking System that includes a Forward Collision Warning to alert you to a potential crash and assistance to avoid or lessen the impact of a collision. You also get a Road Departure Mitigation System standard, which includes a Lane Keeping Assist System and a Lane Departure Warning. These systems will alert you when you seem to be drifting from your lane and provide assistance to help keep you in your lane if you do not act quickly to do so. Every CR-V also comes with Adaptive Cruise Control with Low-Speed Follow, which lets you set a speed and will adjust automatically with traffic to keep you a safe distance from the vehicle ahead of you. A Blind Spot Information System with Cross Traffic Monitor is also standard, which warns you when a vehicle is hiding in your blind spot and alerts you to traffic about to pass behind you while you are in reverse.

There are also a few available safety features if you want even more, such as Front and Rear Parking Sensors, which provide you with additional alerts while you are navigating a parking lot at low speeds. Honda even works to keep others safe: the hybrid models of the CR-V come with an Acoustic Vehicle Alerting System, which provides an audible alert to pedestrians to warn them that a vehicle is approaching them since the hybrid engine is so quiet. This perfectly demonstrates Honda’s commitment to safety and how far they will go to protect everyone inside and outside of their vehicles.
