  • Performance

A white 2020 Honda Passport AWD Elite is towing a trailer and Side by Side in front of a lake and mountains.

Honda is well-known for its coupes and sedan. However, overlooking this brand for SUVs is a mistake that drivers should never make. Offering well-rounded, family-friendly crossovers with luxury touches, the Honda SUV lineup is a superior fleet. Take the 2020 Passport, for example. This model is offered in four trim levels, and each model is powered by the same engine.

    The 2020 Passport's Engine

Under the hood is a 3.5-liter V6 engine that is coupled with a smooth-shifting nine-speed automatic transmission. Together, they produce 280 hp and 262 lb-ft of torque. While front-wheel drive is standard on the first three trim levels (the Sport, EX-L, and Touring), the Elite trim is upgraded with torque-vectoring all-wheel drive. Keep in mind that you can opt for AWD on the other trims as well. This advanced drivetrain system helps to prevent slippage on slick roads, and it offers better handling on dry roads. Models equipped with AWD can also tow up to 5,000 pounds, which is quite impressive for a mid-size SUV.

    Intelligent Traction Management

Let’s be honest. The weather changes constantly. That’s why Honda engineers have made sure to include an intelligent traction management system that works for all terrain types. With selectable driving modes such as Snow, Mud, and even Sand, you can confidently conquer any road in front of you. Taking handling and maneuverability to the next level, the 4-wheel independent suspension system makes driving over rocks and rough terrain a breeze. This beauty can handle whatever you throw at it.

  • Safety

No matter which trim level you choose, the Honda Sensing safety suite is standard across the board. This intelligent collection of driver-assistive technologies helps to prevent accidents on the road.

    The Passport's Fantastic Safety Features

The collision mitigation braking system uses a series of sensors to detect if a frontal collision is imminent. If no action is taken to avoid an impending crash, the system can take control of the brakes, applying hard braking to prevent a collision.

Another system included in the Honda Sensing safety suite is the road departure mitigation system. This works as a fusion between blindspot monitoring, lane-keeping assist, and lane-departure warning all in one. If your vehicle begins to change lanes without signaling, the system will alert you and guide you back into your designated lane.

  • Interior

The 2020 Honda Passport is available in four trim levels and each is just as amazing as the last. You can rest easy knowing that regardless of choosing a base model or the top-tier trim, you drove home a great SUV.

    The 2020 Honda Passport Sport

The first of the four Passport trims is the Sport. This base model includes keyless ignition/entry, tri-zone automatic climate control, and the Honda Sensing safety suite. It also comes with a 60/40 split rear bench seat for easy cab configuration.

The Passport's innovative infotainment interface is displayed on a 5-inch monitor that operates with Bluetooth connectivity for hands-free calling and text messaging. You can also view the video feed from the rearview camera on this screen. By connecting your smartphone via Bluetooth, you can stream your favorite songs through the six-speaker stereo system as well.

    The 2020 Honda Passport EX-L

Moving to the EX-L trim will add comfort and convenience features such as heated, power-adjustable seats with driver memory settings. The cabin is draped in subtle leather upholstery for a sophisticated look, and the infotainment interface gets a larger 8-inch touchscreen that features Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. This allows for seamless audio streaming and app integration.

    The 2020 Honda Passport Touring

Stepping up to the Touring model will get you even more amazing features. The back seats will be heated for more comfort to rear-seat passengers, and the infotainment interface gets another upgrade with added navigation. You won’t have to worry about being lost in a new city ever again. As for entertainment, a 10-speaker stereo system has also been added for an enhanced music-listening experience.

    The 2020 Honda Passport Elite

Finally, the top-of-the-line Elite trim level includes all of the amazing features we have already mentioned plus a few more upgrades. Ventilated seats are perfect for the hot summer months. This feature prevents the leather seating from being too hot to sit on. A heated steering wheel has also been added for warmth and comfort during the colder months. Lastly, a wireless charging pad helps to keep the cabin free from clutter. You can simply lay your smartphone device on the pad, and it will begin to charge. You no longer have to fumble with cables.

  • Exterior

From the outside, each of the four trim levels presents varying design elements that serve as both functional and cosmetic features.

    The 2020 Honda Passport Sport

Rolling on 20-inch alloy wheels, the base Sport model comes with automatic high beam headlights, LED daytime running lights, and foglamps. This dynamic trio of illumination enhances visibility during the day, at night, and during inclement weather. Dual exhaust finishers have been added to the rear of the vehicle for a sportier look, and privacy glass has been installed for the back window to prevent passersby from peeking inside the cabin.

    The 2020 Honda Passport EX-L

Next is the EX-L. This model features heated side mirrors with integrated turn signal indicators for easy lane-changing. It also comes with a one-touch power moonroof with a tilt feature and a power liftgate for easy cargo loading. Walk Away Auto Lock is another advanced safety feature that senses when you walk away from the vehicle. The Passport will lock itself when your key fob is no longer within range. This is a great feature that will grant all drivers peace of mind.

    The 2020 Honda Passport Touring

Stepping up to the Touring version will get you roof rails for additional storage space. You can travel with oddly shaped items or extra luggage secured to the top of the Passport with no problem. With roof rails, you can travel with kayaks, bicycles, or extra cargo; this is perfect for campers, hikers, and day-trippers.

The hands-free access power liftgate allows you to load up the back of the vehicle even when your hands are full. You don’t have to lay anything down on the ground to push a button or release a lever. Finally, the addition of automatic LED headlights is an added bonus to this already amazing trim.

    The 2020 Honda Passport Elite

Finally, the luxurious Elite model includes everything we’ve just mentioned, plus a few extra convenience features. Drivers will have access to auto-dimming, power-folding heated side mirrors with integrated turn signal indicators that are ideal for driving at night. Drivers will also have the added benefit of rain-sensing wipers that turn on automatically during inclement weather.
