The Honda Family

If you aren’t local but make the trip out to work with us, you’ll be glad you did. Honda’s a great choice no matter where you are; if you’re not sure why that is, allow us to explain. Honda is one of the most awarded brands for safety and value, likely the two most important aspects of cars aimed at families. A diverse lineup offers something for everyone, too, even the most cutting-edge environmentalists and those who prefer rocky trails to paved roads.

Kelley Blue Book and US News & World Report love Honda’s value; the NHTSA and IIHS love Honda’s safety. Hondas rate highly in their classes every year, just look at the report card for 2020 as an example. A few models – the Accord, Civic (in every configuration), Clarity, CR-V, and Odyssey – are KBB Best Buys in their class, indicating their overall value.1 U.S. News & World Report also recommended a few Hondas as best-in-class:

  • CR-V: Best compact SUV for the money2
  • Passport: Best 2-row SUV for families3
  • Odyssey: Best minivan for families4

2021 Best Cars for the Money

Choosing the right vehicle is about more than simply getting one that has enough space for your passengers or a decent engine; it is about getting a car, SUV, or minivan that represents the best overall value for you. As your local Honda dealer in Rochester, it is important to us that you drive away in a vehicle that we know you will keep enjoying and getting the most out of for a long time. That is why we are so pleased that, once again, numerous Honda models have been named among the Best Cars for the Money by U.S. News & World Report.

There are a number of awards given out each year by U.S. News & World Report, including Best New Car and Best Used Car. The Best Cars for the Money category, however, is one of the most important ones to us because it encapsulates so much of what we believe in here at Ralph Honda. We pride ourselves on offering fantastic vehicles that not only have great features and specs for you, but that also provide you with an excellent value.

Three of the Best Hondas for the Money

All three of the Honda models chosen by U.S. News & World Report are in the SUV and minivans category––there are only six total options they chose, so half of them are from Honda. This is more than any other manufacturer in this overall category, and it really indicates the kind of high quality that Honda has to offer. The 2021 Honda Passport was named the Best 2-Row SUV for the Money.*** In addition, the 2021 Honda Odyssey was awarded as the Best Minivan for the Money.**** These are two excellent vehicles you can check out at our Rochester Honda dealership, and they truly represent a terrific level of performance and quality for what they cost.

U.S. News & World Report also named the 2021 Honda CR-V the Best Compact SUV for the Money, which is a huge honor.** This is the fifth year in a row that the CR-V has been their choice for the best compact SUV, and it is the eighth year overall that it has won this award. While we are not surprised by this at all, it certainly reinforces what we already knew: that the CR-V is one of the very best compact SUVs on the road. With an excellent combination of low price, impressive performance, and a comfortable interior, we are not surprised to see so many people choose the Honda CR-V.

Choosing the Best Cars for the Money

In order to determine which models are the Best Cars for the Money, U.S. News & World Report uses two simple but very important considerations. The first of which is the quality of the vehicle, which they determine based on an analysis of every reputable review of each model out there. So rather than simply relying on their own opinion, they compile numerous reviews and opinions to determine overall quality. This is combined with data about fuel economy, cargo size, and similar factors to establish their own score of each vehicle.

The second factor they consider is the value of each vehicle in order to determine which models are the best for the money. This includes the initial costs, such as the retail price, as well as long-term costs, including an estimate for expenses over five years. Such costs can factor in things like fuel expenses, insurance, and maintenance or repairs that will be needed during ownership. By coming up with a realistic value for each model, and weighing that together with the quality of each one, they determine which vehicles are the best for your money. With this in mind, we are not surprised that three of the models you can find at our dealership were at the top of their list.

Safety and Honda Sensing

What is it that makes Hondas so inherently safe? It starts with a global “Safety for Everyone” philosophy that develops into active and passive safety systems. Engineered ACE body structures and SmartVent front side airbags help reduce the intensity of collisions. Accident injuries are also reduced thanks to front seat belts with pre-tensioners (to keep you tight to the seat back) and load limiters (to prevent injury from the seat belt).

Active stability control systems and a standard multi-angle rearview camera are the tip of the iceberg of active safety features to help you stay out of accidents in the first place. Honda Sensing, a comprehensive suite of safety technologies, comes standard on many new Hondas and includes even more than the typical advanced assists you’re getting used to. The suite consists of tech to notify you of anything you might miss while driving – a vehicle in your blind spot, a slow vehicle ahead, lane markers drifting under your wheels, even changes in the speed limit.

Here are some of the included safety features:

  • Collision Mitigation Braking System (alert and automatically brake to prevent forward collisions)
  • Road Departure Mitigation Systems (alert and use gentle braking, steering to prevent road departure)
  • Adaptive Cruise Control
  • Lane Keeping Assist System
  • Traffic Sign Recognition
  • Honda LaneWatch (a side mirror mounted camera that displays your blind zone on the center screen)
  • Automatic High Beams

Honda offers a growing lineup of environmentally friendly vehicles with the 2020 introduction of a CR-V Hybrid. Every year it gets easier to find a new electrified or hybrid vehicle that’s right for you. Virtually instantaneous torque gives battery-powered vehicles great acceleration while reducing or eliminating gas saves money at the pump. Various tax incentives deliver a financial reward to drivers for choosing low or zero-emissions vehicles, offsetting the slightly higher purchase costs, and they’re offered worry-free with an 8-year warranty on high voltage battery components.
